Il \u00e9tait l\u2019\u00e9poux d\u00e9vou\u00e9 de Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Haddad (Saad) depuis 67 ans. Elle l\u2019a pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 de seulement deux jours. Ils \u00e9taient ins\u00e9parables, chacun \u00e9tant le grand amour de la vie de l\u2019autre, et \u00e0 bien des \u00e9gards, George ne pouvait vivre sans elle.<\/p><p>Arriv\u00e9 au Canada en 1964, George n\u2019a jamais laiss\u00e9 l\u2019\u00c9gypte derri\u00e8re lui : il l\u2019a apport\u00e9e avec lui. Il a g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement partag\u00e9 sa culture, sa chaleur et son esprit avec les immigrants venus des pays arabes, ainsi qu\u2019avec les Canadiens. Par ses restaurants \u00e9gyptiens, son magazine et ses \u00e9missions de t\u00e9l\u00e9vision et de radio, il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 des lieux de rassemblement o\u00f9 les gens se retrouvaient, \u00e9changeaient et se sentaient chez eux. Pour beaucoup, il incarnait l\u2019\u00c9gypte \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger.<\/p><p>Tout au long de sa vie, George s\u2019est profond\u00e9ment engag\u00e9 \u00e0 rapprocher les gens. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu comme un ambassadeur de paix, transcendant les fronti\u00e8res religieuses et culturelles, et a \u0153uvr\u00e9 sans rel\u00e2che pour favoriser la compr\u00e9hension et l\u2019unit\u00e9 entre les communaut\u00e9s chr\u00e9tienne, musulmane et juive.<\/p><p>Aussi importantes que fussent ces r\u00e9alisations, rien n\u2019\u00e9galait l\u2019amour et la fiert\u00e9 qu\u2019il portait \u00e0 sa famille. Il \u00e9tait un p\u00e8re attentif pour Fred, Claire et Eddy, un grand-p\u00e8re aimant et d\u00e9vou\u00e9 pour Genevi\u00e8ve, Julien, Skye, V\u00e9ronique, Mika\u00ebl, Anthony, Olivia et Simon, ainsi qu\u2019un arri\u00e8re-grand-p\u00e8re combl\u00e9 pour B\u00e9atrice, \u00c9lo\u00efse, Lionel et Lena, dont les simples photos illuminaient son visage.<\/p><p>George restera dans les m\u00e9moires pour sa joie de vivre contagieuse, sa grande g\u00e9n\u00e9rosit\u00e9 et les innombrables personnes qu\u2019il a aid\u00e9es et touch\u00e9es au fil des ans. Sa m\u00e9moire vivra \u00e0 jamais dans le c\u0153ur de ceux qui l\u2019ont connu. Il nous manquera profond\u00e9ment et sera toujours souvenu avec affection.<\/p><p><strong>Une c\u00e9l\u00e9bration aura lieu le 17 janvier, \u00e0 12 pm \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9glise Notre-Dame-de-L\u2019Esp\u00e9rance, 891 ch. La famille sera sur place \u00e0 partir de 11h00 pour recevoir vos condol\u00e9ances.<\/strong><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The Man Who Could Not Live Without His Wife<\/p><p>It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, George Saad, who died peacefully today at the age of 90. He was the devoted husband of Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Haddad (Saad) for 67 years. She passed away just two days before him. They were inseparable\u2014each the great love of the other\u2019s life\u2014and in many ways, George could not live without her.<\/p><p>George came to Canada in 1964, but rather than leaving Egypt behind, he brought it with him. He generously shared its culture, warmth, and spirit with fellow immigrants from across the Arab world and with Canadians alike. Through his Egyptian restaurants, his magazine, and his television and radio programs, he created spaces where people gathered, connected, and felt at home. To many, he became a living symbol of Egypt abroad.<\/p><p>Throughout his life, George was deeply committed to bringing people together. He was recognized as an ambassador of peace, transcending religious and cultural boundaries, and worked tirelessly to foster understanding and unity among Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities.<\/p><p>Yet, as meaningful as these accomplishments were, nothing compared to the love and pride he held for his family. He was a devoted father to his children Fred, Claire, and Eddy; a loving and adoring grandfather to Genevi\u00e8ve, Julien, Skye, V\u00e9ronique, Mika\u00ebl, Anthony, Olivia and Simon; and a joyful great-grandfather to B\u00e9atrice, \u00c9lo\u00efse, Lionel, and Lena, whose photos alone could light up his face.<\/p><p>George will be remembered for his boundless joy for life, his generosity of spirit, and the countless people he helped and touched over the years. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.<\/p><p><strong>The funeral will be at 12 pm on Saturday January 17th at \u00c9glise Notre-Dame-de-L\u2019Esp\u00e9rance, 891 ch.
